What are Single Roll Bets in a Craps Game?

Unlike the Line Bets where mostly you get your results after successive rolls on the dice, Single Roll Bets give results in just one dice roll. These bets make bigger payouts but the probability of winning is pretty small.

Most single roll bets are made with the assistance of the dealers or the stickman. There will be times when the player would have to place the bet themselves. These bets are otherwise known as the skinny or proposition bets. Here are the different Single Roll bets you can make.

First single roll bet would be an "Any 7". It wins if the shooter makes a 7 on the dice. Next is a "Yo". It wins if the shooter would roll an 11. This single roll bet is placed in the "any 11 area". An "Ace-Deuce" wins if the shooter rolls a 3. "Snake Eyes" refers to a roll of two 1's, wins if both dice display a 1. "Box Cars" is a win on a bet on the 12.

"Hi-Lo" wins if a shooter makes a 2 or 12. An "Any Craps" bet will win on a roll of 2, 3 or 12. "C & E" is a combined single roll bet where half your bet goes to Craps and the other half on Yo. Only one of the two will win.

A peculiar single roll bet is the "Field". This is a wager that one of the numbers 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, or 12 will appear on the next roll. The Field Bet is a bet that the player would place himself.

The "Horn" is betting on 2, 3, 11 and 12 all at the same time for the next roll. This single roll bet is actually four separate bets. The casino would pay off according to the usual odds for the number that would come up. The sad part is that only one of these numbers would win, the casino gets the losing bets.

Another single roll bet is the "Whirl" is a combination of a "Horn" and "Any 7". Simply speaking - your wagering that the next dice roll would bring up a 2, 3, 7, 11, or a 12.

It would not be difficult to miss the "Big 6 & Big 8" on the table. These betting areas are given a fairly large space on the table. This single roll bet can be made at any time in the game. Here, you are wagering that a 6 or an 8 would come up before a 7. The odds for this bet is 1 to 1. Meaning your payoff for your original wager would be equal to that amount. Pretty small compared to a single number bet on 6 or 8 that would have a lower house advantage.

The single roll bets are usually placed right smack in the middle of the table and in front of the players where they can easily be seen. Making these bets are pretty simple, just state what bet you're making or what number you're wagering on and that's it. You also get to win in one stroke, just one roll of the dice. Just remember that the odds of winning on single roll bets is small, but the good news is they make a swell payoff.
